Overview:

Dash Power Partners is seeking a consultant to join our Resource & Transmission Planning practice as a trusted partner to electric utility and project development clients. This individual will bring deep regional subject-matter expertise across transmission planning, resource adequacy, and economic analysis domains, leading complex advisory engagements that help utilities and project developers navigate the evolving demands of cost-effective integration of large loads and renewables to the judicious long-range system expansion. The role requires technical depth, the ability to frame strategic problems, build client confidence, and deliver recommendations that drive meaningful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage consulting engagements from scoping through final delivery, ensuring high-quality client outcomes on time and within budget
  • Develop strategic recommendations on transmission reliability and expansion options based on rigorous analysis and industry best practices
  • Drive innovation in system analysis approaches and the use of emerging technologies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building long-term relationships grounded in credibility and trust
  • Develop senior level workshops, webinars, steering committee presentations, and board-level briefings on complex grid strategy topics
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis including cost-benefit analysis, risk assessments, and performance benchmarking
  • Execute complex projects in close collaboration with the client team
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, demonstrating analytical rigor, deep expertise, and effective client communication
  • Identify and support business development opportunities, including proposal development, scope definition, and client relationship expansion
  • Contribute to internal practice development through thought leadership, whitepapers, and methodology refinement
  • Engage in broader industry activities providing leadership

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in transmission planning, resource adequacy, or power systems analysis, with at least 5 years in a client-facing advisory, utility planning, or ISO/RTO context
  • Deep functional knowledge in transmission planning studies (load flow, stability, short circuit), resource adequacy methodologies, interconnection processes, and economic dispatch modelling, with a demonstrated track record of outcomes
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-workstream projects at the executive or senior management level
  • Familiarity with FERC Orders (e.g., Order 1000, Order 2023), NERC reliability standards, and state commission processes governing transmission cost allocation and resource planning
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical analyses into clear, executive-ready deliverables
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related quantitative field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff, with formal people management experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in electrical engineering, or in a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering, or in a related field.
  • Industry leadership experience, including organizations like CIGRE, IEEE, EEI, and similar industry bodies
  • Hands-on experience with power systems modelling tools such as PSS/E, DSATools, PSLF, PLEXOS, PROMOD, or Aurora.
  • Familiarity with regional transmission organizations planning processes
  • Experience with large load interconnection
  • Direct planning experience at a utility, ISO, or consulting firms
  • PE license preferred
